She's on fire!

Wha!? I had the original AND the print out on time? It's like a new record! I was super happy with how this turned out. I started out actually trying to watercolor the background of the photo I was basing it off of, but she was standing in front of a black doorway and the rest of the background didn't look that great anyway. So, I put a crap ton of water on it, blended the black door out with the sponge brush, and hung it on the wall as I added purple and yellow for MAXIMUM DRIPPAGE! But yeah, pretty happy with this one.

Finished this biznach! Kinda... my printer crapped out at 1am and decided "I'm gonna eat all yo paper!" So the small print out WILL be turned in, as well as the illustrations that were supposed to be in color, just probably not till tomorrow. But I was fairly happy with this. I think the type turned out nice for how small it was on the page, I just wish that the highlights were a bit more prominent.

So, I took too many caffeine pills and I have nothing better to do this late, SO I'll just update this before class and look like an over achiever. I think this batch of digi line art turned out better than the first. I was being less experimental and tried to make them look good instead. Lesson learned: don't even attempt architecture with this tablet. There is just no saving it, but I spent too much time on it to not put it up. Other than that one, I really liked how they (particularly the people) turned out. I do need to find out how to adjust my tablets settings on a windows though.

Watercolor profile pictures

So, for this one I had to do 5 watercolors of profile pictures from the facebooks. Much like the digital line art, these degraded as I did more. I was happy with the first three at least, so I have something for my refrigerator.

Digital Tablet Drawing

So, these are my first ever digital tablet drawings. They started off strong, but you can kinda tell where I started experimenting, and judge right down to the chef what drawing I did first to last. But, I was possibly the only person that did some drawings not from photos, which at least helped me a bit for practicing a more cartoonish style.

Illustrations Refined

So, these were some of my better line arts that I blew up and put on illustration board. On here, they look about the same, but they look pretty classy in real life.

20x30

For this we had to do a 20x30 landscape. This project ultimately killed me since at 4:30am I decided that I needed sleep or I would be up for over 48 hours. So, it doesn't look as nice as it could, but it looks ok, ad i plan on presenting a stellar one on wed.

Portrait from Memory

For this one, I had to do a watercolor drawing of a person from memory, NO PHOTOS! I chose my Uncle Bruce, since he had a large beard I could work with and I was afraid of getting the proportions even more wrong than they turned out. I definitely can only work off of photos... It doesn't look horrible, but I don't think it is that great.

9x12

So, these were two 9x12 comps that I did on the same night as the large Grace Kelly comp. I spent like 4 or 5 hours on Grace, about 2 hours on the toucan, and at around 3am I realized "oh crap, I have to do another" so I slapped together a watercolor of dice that took about 10 min... that one was of course the best one...

Well, it seems that I have fallen a little behind in blogging. Gonna try to catch up today. This was a 12x18 watercolor with line art that I did. I really felt that out of all the assigned ones this day, this was the best. I had a good deal of handling with the watercolors and the stippling was a bitch, but I liked the pop art feel that it gave it.

This was the day I said, I'm done sucking at watercolor... 5 hours later, They started looking better. All you gotta do is take that contrast and punch it in the ass. But I am ready to sleep any day now...

These are some preliminary logo designs I did for my Viscom 4 class. My personal favorite was the red and grey cokes and smokes. But, the prof didn't think so... so I did a different one.
